11 May 2025: Today, 11 May 2025, marks 25 years since I joined this amazing United Nations agency, World Food Programme (WFP).
WFP stands for, and stands with, the most vulnerable people in the world. As the largest humanitarian organization saving and changing lives worldwide, WFP, brings hope. Through an incredibly talented, motivated and committed team, WFP supports the most vulnerable in addressing their food security needs by bringing life-saving relief in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impacts of climate change.
I embarked on this journey back in May 2000 when I was first offered the opportunity to work in our DPR Korea office. Since then, there has been no turning back. Over the last 25 years, I have had the opportunity and privilege of traveling to different parts of the world, learning and contributing in my own small way in advancing humanity - taking care of the most vulnerable in times of crises. Today, I have the privilege and honor of serving the people of the Pacific as they continue to tackle the multi-dimensional challenges caused by the impact of climate change and other natural hazards.
I thank my colleagues, my friends, our development and humanitarian partners for working and walking alongside you on this journey. I’m extremely grateful for having a very supportive family who believes in what I do and the organization that I work you. The journey continues…
